Keeping your lawn lush and green is not easy. In addition to proper watering and fertilization, lawn aeration is one of the most important (and often overlooked) services for maintaining the health and beauty of your lawn.
So why do I need lawn aeration?
As your lawn ages, the soil beneath it becomes compacted – making it difficult for air, water and vital nutrients to reach the grass roots. Aeration adds breathing room to your soil and supports optimal root growth.
How does aeration work?
Aerators bore holes through the turf and soil and remove small soil plugs from your lawn. This process reduces compaction and allows for air, water, and nutrients to penetrate deep into the grass roots. The soil plugs in turn break down to feed nutrients back into your lawn’s root system.
How often should I aerate?
For the optimal health of your lawn, we recommend aerating at least every year. If your lawn is heavily used or has heavy clay or subsoil, you may need to aerate more often.
- Enhances water and nutrient absorption
- Improves air circulation
- Increases reach of fertilizer
- Reduces water waste through runoff and puddling
- Increases drought and stress tolerance
